Check your wall's undertone before you buy anything in this palette. Green and pink is a balancing act, and the wall is the third colour in the room whether you meant it to be or not: a cool white keeps the pairing fresh and botanical, a warm cream nudges it sweeter, and a beige with yellow in it can turn the greens sallow. Hold a plain white sheet of paper against the paint; whatever tint the wall shows against it is what the art will pick up.

The combination works because the two colours sit nearly opposite each other on the wheel, so each sharpens the other — the reason nature uses the pairing for every rose bush and peony bed. That opposition is also why balance matters: the best pieces let one colour lead and the other punctuate.

Decide which colour you want in charge. Green-dominant pieces with pink accents read calm and botanical and suit living rooms and kitchens; pink-dominant pieces read warmer and softer and lean naturally towards bedrooms. Even splits are the hardest to place and tend to want a very plain room around them.

The common mistake is letting the pairing tip saccharine — bright candy pink with mint reads as a child's room unless everything around it is disciplined. Muted versions — sage with blush, olive with dusty rose — are far easier to live with over the years.

A good rule before committing: if the pink in the image is stronger than any colour already in your room, plan one echo of it — a cushion or a throw is enough — so the piece looks anchored in the scheme rather than parachuted into it.
