This suits an office, a hallway or a modern living room with hard surfaces, and it is a poor fit for a bedroom. Dubai imagery is overwhelmingly night skyline, glass towers and long exposures of traffic light trails; the visual language is energy, height and money. That reads well where you want a room to feel awake, and works against you in a space whose whole job is winding down. If you want this subject in a bedroom, the desert and dune images are the version to look for.

Aspect ratio follows the city. Skylines are wide by nature, and a panoramic format above a long low sofa or a sideboard makes sense of them; forced into a square or a tall frame, a skyline loses the sweep that made it worth photographing. Single-tower verticals are the exception, and they are genuinely strong in narrow spaces where the whole point is exaggerated height.

Night versions bring their own colour problem. Sodium and LED lighting throws amber and cyan across the frame, and that combination fights with warm cream walls while sitting comfortably against charcoal, deep blue or anything with black metal in it. Blue-hour shots, taken just after sunset while there is still colour in the sky, are easiest to place because the sky supplies one dominant tone instead of a scatter of point lights.

Desert scenes deserve more attention than they usually get here. Dune ridges at low sun are quiet, warm and close to abstract, they behave like a soft landscape rather than a city, and they suit exactly the rooms the skyline does not.

One check before hanging a night skyline: look at the image with the room lights off. Dark pictures swallow a lot of light and can read as a black rectangle in the evening, which is precisely when you are most likely to be sitting in front of it. If it disappears, put it where daylight reaches instead.
